Light the candle, John... The daylight is almost gone.
When my sister Julie and I were little, we used to go around the neighborhood... gathering interesting stuff we'd find in the alley, bringing out odd old things we'd find in the storage shed out back -- stuff like fluorescent orange horseshoes, molds of animals made from plaster of paris. We'd set the stuff up around our backyard, trying to create our own carnival.... trying to charge neighborhood kids admission to our little fun house.
RioFest is here again. RioFest -- the city-wide fair that draws big crowds, live entertainment, face painting... and clowns. It's also the place where Selena was booed off the stage when she was around 12 or 13...
According to one of the reporters here at work, I have coulrophobia -- the fear of clowns. I'm not ashamed, I don't try to hide it and I don't care if anyone loves them (like Julie) enough to hold it against me. Clowns just aren't my thing.
I sometimes wish I could blog from the stoop just outside of the newsroom. It's a beautiful day, I'm not feeling sick like I was the past week... And it's so damn uncomfortable in this newsroom. I think I need to pee.
Last night I got a mutual "wink" from one of my matches on match.com ... Since this rarely happens, I decided to try and follow up with him. Of course, since I'm not a paid member of match.com, I can't send him messages, so -- in true stalker form -- I googled his screen name and lo, he's got a livejournal.
I contacted him via AIM, but hopefully he won't think I'm totally stalkerish... I mean, he just seems like a cool guy and it could be fun just to chat...... I dunno. x_X

Exploding buildings...
Valley Morning Star Online Edition
Early today, there was an explosion in Nuevo Progreso -- one of my favorite shopping areas just south of the border. A couple of buildings collapsed and several others were damaged.... Including the two-story restaurant Vanessa and I frequent for lunch & margarita specials -- El Rapto.
