Wasted days and wasted nah-ha-haaits...Well, I spent the noon hour working on some new looks for my house....
![]() The above is what the current house looks like, the below is what I'd like it to look like. I'm hoping I can actually get this done ... sometime ... if ever. Anyway, work was very long and draining. Today was not a good day. When I arrived at work today, Albert said that he and I would be staying in the meeting room for a little while after our usual web committee meeting... to discuss some things. After the meeting, he told me about the General's latest shit... "That woman is getting on my nerves!" he snarled. The past two days she had him working on all her stupid graphics that aren't due for another two or three weeks. Something like 10 or 12 graphics, knowing full well that he had a million other projects to be working on that have much sooner deadlines. He said that by last night, when she was telling him something about the illustration I've been working on for the past two weeks, he was so fed up that he was just tuning her out. When we went back into the newsroom, the woman was making a big production of finding an available photog and for Shawn to help her coordinate this thing she wanted him to help her with.... hmm. I wasn't in the least bit interested. That was until they flicked off the light switch. I asked Albert exactly what they were doing.... "Well, she dogged your illustration... just don't worry about it." There, before my eyes, she was taking my photo illustration ideas and having Shawn and a(n unwilling) photog produce it for her. Yes, the illustration that I have been pouring over for the past two weeks was being stolen right from under me, wiped clean and given to another (and much-despised) graphic artist. I don't blame him so much, although he kisses ass so much he has a toilet paper roll hanging from his nose.... this was all HER doing. The bitch didn't even have the balls to tell me to my face that she was not going to use my ideas. It gets much more complex and detailed and I just don't have the energy. It's 5:30... One thing though... I will not be shit on. Half the newsroom heard from me tonight, and my rant on how unprofessional this woman is being. She has stepped on very many toes since her arrival three months ago. She's caused all of those toes to walk away. Well, I was here first, and I'm not going away without a fight... if that's what it takes. I told my boss that I was taking this personally... that her decision is fine with me, but I'm still taking it personally. I'm not going to let this go like Albert suggested. Let's see if I still have a job by Monday. Mikey was being stupid at 5:26 AM :: Due to blogger's downtime this was not posted last night...Again I did nothing productive on my days off.
I seriously planned to wash my car, since I've been attempting to all month. It didn't happen. I almost took it to get detailed professionally, but the ATM wouldn't let me take out $40. It's a good thing too because it just started pouring two minutes ago. AUGH. This also means that I won't be cutting the yard tomorrow morning... once again. I have not been able to mow the lawns whenever I want to because of stupid circumstances... the flooding, the mower had no oil/gas. After I cut my mom's lawn, the mower stayed over there. Tuesday my brother in law borrowed it and didn't bring it over here when he was done. I swear, my house needs curb appeal. Mikey was being stupid at 5:06 AM :: Monday, November 10, 2003
Incidentally, as I drove home last night, I watched the coyotes play in the middle of 77 Sunshine Strip. I wanted to park the car, open the trunk and get the camera that Ric lent me for an assignment. The thing is it doesn't have a flash... and that particular digital camera is too complicated for me to even get a clear picture out of a well lit room. I seriously doubt I would have captured the moment in the overcast midnight.
The air was clear tonight. You could see a full moon bright and pale orange sitting up in the sky. Somewhere across town spotlights were dancing around ... There's probably a carnival in town. I remember going to the carnival as a kid and absolutely loving it. Why don't I go anymore? It's probably the creepy carnies. Freakiest thing happened the other night... I was downloading porn from Kazaa, as usual... All of a sudden, I see the user that owned the video I was downloading. His user name was very location-descriptive. And he just happens to be from my neck of the woods. It was too weird, so I sent him a PM, to which I expected no response. I decided to leave my e-mail addy just out of curiosity. He replied and told me where he's from and all that. We both agree that it is just too damn weird to have "discovered" each other through Kazaa. Don't worry, I'm not going to hook up with this guy... He's a lot older than me (nearly twice my age) and I'm Today, I was flying solo at work thanks to Albert, who was feeling sick. Today he left at 4:30, instead of his usual 7:00 on Mondays. It sort of annoys me that after his weekend off he always goes home early, leaving me to work the entire evening after a long, tiresome work week. Nevermind that when I go back to work on Thursday, I'll be there until 1 or 2 or 3 a.m. Anyway... I think I'm complained of this before. So I'll stop. Anyway, tonight was exceptionally busy. Wide open pages filled with graphics, photos photos photos, graphics on Veterans Day. I thought that since I did a lot of work before dinner (which I left late for), I'd have a stress-free after-dinner. Of course, I was wrong. "The General" decided to have me redo the graphic that wasn't even supposed to go in OUR newspaper (it was made specifically for our sister paper). That on top of an already heavy workload. When I had her proof my revised Veterans Day graphic, she says, "Did you spell everything correctly?" I was like, "I think so..." This prompted her to bring up a mistake I made on a graphic that ran in yesterday's paper. The one mistake I made in set of three graphics was the misspelling of the word "Larceny" .... I said, "Well, I'm sorry... but I'm not an editor." She said, "No, but you have this spell check here in Word." I responded saying that I don't use Word for illustrations, and that the graphic was proofed by three editors, the reporter and page designer. If no one caught it, then it wasn't my fault. Of course, she feels differently, and has no pegged me as some perpetual wrong-speller. Wahtever. Mikey was being stupid at 6:58 PM :: Go to bed... passed the apple orchard and you'll feel nice...Overview of the past week:
1. Some odd twist of fate got Kat a job... Very happy for her. She's working at a day care/pre-school, caring for 2-year-olds. She was really excited to get a job (especially under the odd circumstances that it happened), I'm really excited because the financial burden will finally be lifted from my shoulders. :p Yesterday, Julie was telling us how she and bro-in-law are looking for a new place to live because their rent is too high. They found the perfect house just outside of town. They went to see the man about it today and everything is in the works for them to move in two weeks from now. The problem is that they have to be out of their current house within four days. So... rather than them being homeless for ten days, "we" are letting them stay here for that time. I put we in quotes because I didn't find out about it until all was said and done. So once again, it'll be all three of us siblings under this roof.... like when we were kids. This time, bro-in-law will be here too.... not to mention their two cats, three dogs, enormous fish tank, plus my cats and ... gah! We're so not going to fit in here. This sucks. But that's family... gotta let em in. Guess we'll fit somehow.... Mikey was being stupid at 2:22 AM :: |
