TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ADVENTURES
THE JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES

A Spooky Night In Disney's Haunted Mansion

PART 4

The Ghost Host led Chan, Ninjara, Jade & Raphael through another doorway and onto a balcony overlooking the grand ballroom. A party was taking place one of the strangest parties you've ever seen. There was a long dining table covered with decayed food and wiltered flowers, spiderwebs hung everywhere.  It seemed to be a birthday party and when a birthday ghost blew out the candles on a cake several other ghosts disappeared. They reappeared to congratulate the guest of honor for extinquishing the candles in one breath.  Those guests seated around the table dressed in various party costumes are talking, laughing and drinking wine. There was an elderly lady rocking & reading a book beside the fireplace...when she rocked forwards she disappeared. When she rocked back she too reappeared. Several ghosts were playing on the chandelier over the massive dining table...2 sitting arm in arm with glasses of wine in their hands and chatting merrily while behind them a gentleman hangs off the edge of the chandelier with his hooked cane preventing him from falling to the floor below. Other ghosts were waltzing around and around in circles barely touching the furniture in their paths while an organist played a haunting refrain on a pipe organ.

JADE
Whoa, I don't believe this.

NINJARA
This is crazy, I don't believe what I see.

RAPHAEL
Ghosts partying? No way man!

JACKIE CHAN
Sure looks like it, though. But I've never seen anything like this either.

For awhile they stand mesmerized by the spooky scenario before their eyes.  None of them have ever seen ghosts celebrating-having fun so to speak.

NINJARA
Why did we ever come into this house?

RAPHAEL
To escape from the storm, that was his idea. <Nods to Chan>

JACKIE CHAN
Ok, go ahead.  Blame it on me. <Looks annoyed> I'm the one who got us trapped in the first place.

JADE
No, no. <Tries defending him> It's not your fault Jackie, we all wanted to seek shelter from the storm but not standing outside on the porch where we would get wet & soaked.  However we didn't expect the door to swing shut on us.

NINJARA
Uh-huh...<Frowns> and now we're still looking for that exit, hmmm?

JACKIE CHAN
We'll find it, we'll find it, don't worry.

RAPHAEL
I hope so...I'm getting tired of this spooky manor house.

Just then Jade spots another door at the opposite end of the balcony open as if by unseen hands beckoning them to enter.

JADE
Yo! <Gets their attention> Here's another door at the other end of the balcony, come on! <Starts towards it>

JACKIE CHAN
Wait! <Runs after her>

RAPHAEL
Wait for me brother.

NINJARA
Don't leave me behind!

Ninjara, Jackie, Raphael & Jade entered the door and found themselves standing inside the unfinished attic - a room filled almost from floor to ceiling with antiques of various states of neglect, i.e. rugs, lamps, mirrors, tables, chairs, toys, clothing, trunks, chests, all covered in dust. Suddenly a loud thumping sound distracts them for a second or two or three and they start searching for its source.

RAPHAEL
What on earth is that?

JADE
Sounds like the Tell-Tale-Heart.

RAPHAEL
Agh!  Not that scary story by Edgar Allen Poe!

JACKIE CHAN
But where is it coming from? <He starts looking> I don't...

NINJARA
Aaah, aaaaaaaaaah...<Eyes wide, mouth agape> Guys???

JACKIE-JADE-RAPHAEL
WHAT?

NINJARA
LOOK! <Points trembling finger>

JACKIE-JADE-RAPHAEL
HUUUUUUUUUUUH!!! <Paralyzed with terror>

Standing before them was a ghost dressed as a bride. She was strangly illuminated and her heart glowed red with each heartbeat. Nearby against one wall stood a piano also neglect and broken-down. Candelabrums sit atop the instrument casting flickering shadows which reveals the outline-shape of a person dressed in top hat & cape playing a somber version of The Wedding March as he pounds the keys. As the gang turned to run out the door another ghostly manifistation appeared and blocked their way. He was a cloaked figure with an evil grinning face a hatbox hung from his hands. With each beat of his bride's heart his head disappeared from his body and appeared in the hatbox.

NINJARA <Totally lost it>
We're trapped!  There's no way out!

JACKIE CHAN
Hold the candles, I'll try to open this window.

The stuntman moves to one of the attic's dormer windows and struggling with the stubborn sill pushes it outwards so he can peer outside. The storm has ended or passed on leaving behind a clear sky with twinkling stars and full moon. A gentle breeze fills the air as Chan turns back to call to his friends.

JACKIE CHAN
C'mon, we're in luck.  There's a balcony out here.

RAPHAEL
You mean it's the way out?

JACKIE CHAN
What did you expect? <Smirks> I told you I would find it.

RAPHAEL
I believed you all the way Chan. <Grins back>

JADE
Yay! <Excited> Finally we can escape from this house.

NINJARA
Alright! <She too looks happy> Let's go!

Carefully they step through the window onto the catwalk-walkway on the mansion's rooftop and stand there gazing at their surroundings. From where they stood the friends had a commanding bird's eye view of the property or mansion's grounds. But they know time counts for them to find the exit from this nightmare and return safely home before anything else happens.

JACKIE CHAN
Watch your step.  The rain made everything slippery.

JADE
The candles went out again.

JACKIE CHAN
Just leave them we're outside now.  Everything's going to be OK.  Here's some steps down at the far end.

He indicates a fire-escape leading to the ground far below but the others staring at where the steps lead to have fear written all over their faces.

RAPHAEL
But they lead to the cemetary!

NINJARA
I dunno about going in there.

JADE
Well, <Almost smirks> we can't go back inside there <Nods head towards open window> or we'll get lost again trying to find another exit.

NINJARA
What?!  No way!  Uh-uh, you're not making me go back inside.

RAPHAEL
Me neither!  Over my dead body.

JACKIE CHAN
Come on, it's the only way home.  Besides we can follow the path through the cemetary and it should lead us to the back-gate near the fence and before you know it we'll be free.

JADE
I'm with you Jackie, lead the way.

RAPHAEL
On second thought now that I think of it...perhaps we should do as Chan says and proceed on our way through the cemetary.

NINJARA <Looks at him uneasy>
You sure?  We won't get lost in there?

JACKIE CHAN
I don't think so, I can see one path from here going all the way <Stares straight ahead> to the far end so I know we will not get lost.

NINJARA
Well...<Finally she agrees> In that case, I'm willing to take my chances in there than back in there. <Jerks thumb over shoulder at the mansion>

JADE
Cool, let's go.

RAPHAEL
Ladies first. <Gestures>

NINJARA
Thank you kindly Ralph. <Smiles> Will you guard me?

RAPHAEL
Of course, <Bows> your wish is my command.

JADE
Hehehehehehe <Giggles> instant bodyguard.

RAPHAEL
Right you are lady. <Winks at her>

JACKIE CHAN
Oh good grief. <Rolls his eyes> Follow me gang and stay close.

Then they begin their descent from the roof to the ground making their way down the fire-escape until they reach the ground level and pass through the open gates of the family cemetary trying to find their way out of this living nightmare. They passed the mansion's old caretaker holding a railroad lantren too frightened to speak or move, his dog was cowering-whimpering at his master's feet. Suddenly there was music all around them and the sky was filled with flying spirits!!!

GRIM GRINNING GHOSTS

When the cryptdoors creak and the tombstones quake.
Spooks come out for a swinging wake.
Happy haunts materalize and begin to vocalize.
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize!!!

Now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide.
Or a silly spook may sit by your side.
Shrouded in a daft disquise they pretend to terrorize.
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize!!!

As the moon climbs high over dead oak trees.
Spooks arrive for the midnight spree.
Creepy creeps with errie eyes start to shriek and harmonize.
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize.

When you hear the nell of a funeral bell.
Wierd glows gleam where spirits dwell.
Restless bones etheralize rise as spooks of every size.
Hmhmhm-mwahahahahahahaah!!!

Chan, Jade, Raphael & Ninjara passed a group of musicians who paid no attention to their presence. One was playing a bagpipe another a harp and another a trumpet. There was a hunchback playing a flute and a drummer pounding out the tempo on a gravestone. There was a king and queen balancing a teeter-totter on a gravestone while their daughter a princess swings in a swing pushed by the prince. They saw a hearse stuck in the mud, the driver talking with a duchess sitting atop the vehicle sipping tea. The coffin had slipped out and its contents a shrouded corpse also was sipping a cup of tea. Behind the hearse on a hill a group of ghosts were enjoying a bicycle ride through the tombstones. 5 marble busts on a raised pedestal are singing "Grim Grinning Ghosts" in barbershop quartet style. Not far away 2 ghosts wearing opera theater costumes wail away to the music in their own voices and a masked executioner was singing a duet with a medieval decapitated knight who held his singing head in his extended hand.

JACKIE CHAN
There's that crow again. <He spots the black bird shadowing them>

RAPHAEL
Why must it always follow us?

JADE
Perhaps it wants to tell us something.

NINJARA
Oh, really?  Tell us what? <Curious>

CROW <Warns its visitors>
Caw, caw!  Beware my friends, caw, caw!  They may try to follow you home.  Caw, caw, caw! <Then it flies away again>

For a moment the friends stand gawking-gaping after it disappears wondering what did it mean by that???

NINJARA
Chan?  Are you sure we're going the right way.

JACKIE CHAN
Of course, like I said there's only one path.

RAPHAEL
Whoa, check it out.  Looks like there's something up ahead.

The turtle spots a dark ominous shape directly in their way.  They stare at it in confusion and puzzlement wondering what it could be until Jade recognizes it!

JADE
That's the crypt!  That's the one by the fence it's the way out.

NINJARA
You found the exit! <Excited> We're free at last!

RAPHAEL
Yeeeehaaaaw! <Shouts the Dukes Of Hazzard yell>

JACKIE CHAN
Come on!  Stay close and don't stop for nothing, don't look back!

Together they run towards the crypt whose door is open to admit them inside its interior.  As their footsteps echo errily on the steps going down underground the Ghost Host returns to bid them farewell.

GHOST HOST
Did you enjoy your visit?...<Sound of funeral bell tolling the hours> I told you you would not be harmed...thank you for spending some time with us...Come again, bring your friends if they believe this story you tell...I have to go now it is midnight...Pleasant dreams...hmhm...hmhmhmmm...hmhmahahahahaah!!!

Finally the friends emerge through another open door at the other side of the crypt and pass through the back gate of the fence.Pausing to stop & catch their breath they turn to look one last time at the mansion looming before them. Then without hesitation they turn tail and RUN! They don't stop running until they've left the haunted house far behind and return safely home.

THE END
