Issue #15: The Howling of Distant Shadows

They traveled along the river. All the while, April writing in her journal -- recording their adventures in the Amazon... Their meeting with natives who invited them to their wonderous world.

The native South American tribe that lived in the tepuis offered the Turtles, April, and their new friend Jagwar a welcome place to camp for as long as they needed. The tepuis were ancient hollowed out mountains. Inside, there was a perfectly preserved land of the lost... where dinosaurs lived alongside humans and the earth was healthy. The campsite was set in the middle of paradise, secluded from the modern world, lush and green... but, as the leader Paleocha explained, they were being haunted by a mysterious creature -- lobo.

A wolf... but a wolf that was also a man. Fearing a bad omen from the gods, the people made a nightly offering of lupine blossoms, overripe jangala fruit, topped with a pate of marinaded monkey bladder.

As soon as the wolf-man retrieved his food and left, Paleocha continued to tell of her tribe's problems. Pirate-miners had kidnapped several of the village men and taken them as slaves to a tepui which they stripped of minerals and jewels. The Turtles agreed to help the Coipacu tribe and free the enslaved men.

The fight was brutal, but just as the Turtles had come up near triumphant, Jagwar was taken hostage with a machine gun to his skull. At that moment, a white streak flew past, knocking the gun and its owner out of commission. The blur of movement slowed to a stop quite suddenly... it was the wolf-man. He rescued Jagwar and helped the Turtles free the slaves.

Back at the campsite, Paleocha commended everyone for their bravery (and because the one he'd just made was destroyed in battle once again, presented Donatello with a new staff). The wolf-man was introduced as Dreadmon and was welcomed with open arms into the village.... and became the newest friend of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
