” The first sighting of the Loveland frogman was in May 1955 by a local businessman. While driving home for the evening he saw three, four foot tall frog-faced creatures squatting near a bridge. One of the creatures held what seemed to be a metal rod in it’s hand that threw sparks at it’s tip. He immediately drove away to report what he had seen.

Then again in 1972, a Loveland, Ohio police officer was patrolling at dawn and reported seeing something in the middle of the road. As he neared , a creature lept up and jumped over a guardrail, fleeing down an embankment it dove into the Miami River. The officer described the creature as being 3 or 4 feet tall, with wet, clammy skin and a face like a frog. He and another officer returned later that day but all they found were scrape marks going down the hill and into the river.

The second sighting occurred two weeks later when another police officer was driving into Loveland and saw a creature in the road. As he approached, it suddenly stood up on two legs. The officer, shocked at the creature’s appearance, pulled his gun and fired at it but the frog man escaped over a guardrail and vanished into a marshy area.

The policeman’s description matched that of the first officer.

Later that year a farmer reported sighting 4 strange creatures in his field by a river. He came upon them while inspecting his crops. He noted their wide mouths filled with sharp teeth, big round eyes and pale greenish grey skin. As he turned to run he said the 4 foot tall creatures jumped into the river and disappeared.”

For many kids Cordoban, drawings of Fernando González (better known by his pseudonym, Junior) are somewhat familiar with one of the “little children” from his pen: small dinosaur Glippy whose appearances make him the color supplement Chicos.cor the newspaper La Voz del Interior.

But for some time, and brush strokes of Junior visions have become usual for the American public. Is that the designer gradually began to find his spot in the production of comics in the country’s north, picking up more and more collaborations lead, recently, with an order of consecration: From September, all editions of the Comic Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ( “Stories Teen Mutants Ninja Turtles”) will be drawn by him.

“I was sending samples to various comics and stamps found a notice calling for a comic strip cartoonists that although it had nothing to do with the Ninja Turtles, which was also employed one of its screenwriters,” says Junior.

<a title=""Tales of the TMNT" #62 ' UTROM EXO ' ..
“So I sent him some pictures, I liked a lot and started doing some things for the Turtles. But what of the Ninja Turtles was my first experience at Mass, “he adds.

- How are the dynamics of work to do as a comic “Tales of the TMNT?

-The U.S. is working very industrial. There is an argument, which is designed to outline the general ideas and scripts. Then there is another person to write dialogues and one that makes the pages of sketches. After passing through all these processes, the pages come to me with very simple pictures to guide me. They know I have a minimum knowledge of English, then send me the sheets with sketches more or less what is happening.

-Having worked with several writers, I figure I’ve had with some creative friction.

The truth, yes. The writer often does not want him stealing the cartoonist of the comic actor. So, it sometimes creates friction. I also happened that some American writers have become Recontras severe and thorough, giving you instructions such as “in this table, the player’s fingers must be pointing towards that side, not toward one another.” Fortunately, people who are responsible for the Ninja Turtles has given me a lot of freedom in terms of creation is concerned.

“My introduction to the world of graphic Hortensia was with the magazine in 1987,” says Junior remembering its beginnings. “

“There was humor graphic that basically was the only possibility open to cartoonists here in Cordova, which were not comics.

And my first experience was with the comic magazine aspid, a venture that five self-loving cartoon crazy. With this publication even got to win a prize in Cuba. ”

Junior’s style is distinguished by a marked vocation retro. Therefore, not surprising when the drawer on his name among the legends of American comics of the 50s and 60s, such as Will Eisner, Wally Wood and Frank Miller. While a teacher does not forget Argentina: Alberto Breccia.

-You just reach is an enormous achievement. But what would be your ultimate goal?

<img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3624/3617137863_8784c87efe.jpg" alt="Tales of the TMNT v.2 #62 cover inks // pencils by Fernando León González, Inks by R.
– My dream is to draw superheroes for Marvel. While I was assistant designers who have worked for the company, for cowardice, yet he encouraged me to show my work to the people of Marvel. I have to take courage and do it, and that of the Ninja Turtles really gives me enough courage.

Peter Laird :: ” have pretty much finished the tones for issue #31 of TMNT, and if all goes well in the lettering stage (which I hope to begin tonight or tomorrow), #31 might be sent to the printer within a few weeks. The photo above is of the cover page of a “proof print” I did so that I could see how the tones were going to look (sometimes things look different when they are printed than when you were looking at them on a computer monitor). I also wanted to get a look at one particular page on which I think I spent the most time doing tones of any page in all of Volume 4… and I’m not sure people will be able to tell. We’ll see, I guess.

So this means, I think, that if anyone wants to write a letter of comment for possible inclusion in issue #31, they should probably do it in the next couple of weeks.

And in a related bit of news, Jim Lawson has started penciling issue #32 — I think he’s done four or five pages so far.” — PL
