TMNT III, The Manhattan Project for NES: Soundtrack S-T-E-R-E-O Edition [[ Via Stephan , courtesy of Godzfire ]]

GodzFire ::

“Since the Turtles have been such a big part of my life, I had wanted to do something for their 25th Anniversary. What that turned out to be is TMNT 3 for NES, the Soundtrack, but in a way you’ve never heard it before.

For most of us, the audio from the NES was in mono. However, in many games, like TMNT, there were actually 5 different channels for audio, each with it’s own unique sound. Unfortunately, it was impossible to hear what the tracks sounded like, until now.

Thanks to some modern technology, I have been able to extract these 5 channels, and arrange them for a stunning new audio experience. The 5 channels consist of the following:

1- Main Left
2- Main Right
3- Bass
4- Drum Brush or Rustle (Can’t think of the exact musical term)
5- Drums

To create the stereo image, the channels are placed as the following: -80 (1) -60 (3&4) +60 (5) +80 (2). Think of -100 as full left and +100 as full right. The goal was to create an even listening experience across both ears, so one side wouldn’t have all the music while the other had nothing playing. Channels 1 and 2 often ‘harmonized’ with each so that’s why they were spaced most apart.

Here is the **Sewer Level as an example. It’s a zip that contains the 5 separated channels. It also includes the 3 different mixes I made combining the channels: Original (Mono), Stereo, and ‘Clarity’.

Original is simply the tracks mixed as you would have heard them if you were playing on the NES. Stereo is the tracks spread out. ‘Clarity’, is what I call my 3rd mix, which are the tracks spread out and using some special effects that really enhance the sound, and my personal favorite, and the one I recommend.

The track list is as follows:
01 – Title 0:17
02 – Character Select 0:56
03 – Intro Pt 1 0:52
04 – Intro Pt 2 0:29
05 – Beach 2:15
06 – Boss 1:50
07 – Level Transition 1 0:05
08 – Surfin Sub 1:56
09 – Level Transition 2 0:05
10 – Bridge 2:15
11 – Level Transition 3 0:09
12 – City 2:30
13 – Level Transition 4 0:06
14 – Sewer 2:42
15 – MiniBoss 1:19
16 – Level Transition 5 0:07
17 – Technodrome 2:16
18 – Shredder 1:07
19 – Shredder Gets Away 0:07
20 – Elevator 1:50
21 – Rooftop 1:54
22 – Technodrome 2 2:21
23 – Krang 2:02
24 – Super Shredder 2:18
25 – Congratulations 0:18
26 – Ending Pt 1 1:09
27 – Ending Pt 2 0:59
28 – Game Over 0:06
TOTAL TIME – 34:19

Without further ado, here are the 3 collections in zip format:
***Original
****Stereo
*****Clarity

Comments and feedback are very welcome. This took me a long time to finish, so I’m interested in seeing what everyone thinks…
Anyway, enjoy all, and happy 25th!”

TALES @ Barnes and Noble

Tristan Jones :: ” Yes, I’m doing it. If you have an aversion to comic shops, or the guy who runs your local is some kind of anti-TMNT abomination, you can now order Tales of the TMNT through Barnes & Noble over the intertron. This is pretty big step for an indie publisher, so I urge everyone to give it a look in! Tell your friends!

* * Update ::   ..Good points in  from Stephan  * *
“     So, I was speaking to one of the people who are somehow involved in the Turtles Creative Universe…Yes…It is vague…Deal.

Anyway, the important part isn’t who they are as much as what they said. I thought this was very insightful input on the subject:

Hi
Just saw your post online about the B&N.com selling tales.
It’s only online. NOT in stores.
I think TMNT’s biggest problem is that it’s too diverse a property.
So, what a step in the right direction for one part isn’t going to save the franchise as a whole.
There’s not a lot of crossover from one part to the other–meaning those who read the comics don’t necessarily watch the cartoon
Those who collect the toys don’t care about the comics, etc.
And it doesn’t help that every part skews to a different age group and audience.
Sooooo…
Step in a right direction? Kinda. I guess. But I’m not really optimistic. They’ve been on Amazon forever, but no one buys them there.

Agree or disagree, it is interesting input.    .. ”

TF2009: NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Update
Written by SamuRon

Sunday, 15 February 2009
Amidst rumors of feuding between Playmates, Mirage, and NECA, many Fwooshers have been wondering the fate of second series of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that were shown at last year’s San Diego Comic Con. Today, we had the opportunity to speak with Randy Falk, NECA’s Director of Product Development. He assured us that they are still planning to ship TMNT series 2 later this year.

The series 2 lineup:

* Shredder with Utrom
* April O’Neill with battle-damaged Mouser
* Foot Ninja with Mouser (articulated jaw)
* Foot Elite

Furthermore, Randy said that all the internet rumors regarding difficulties between Mirage, Playmates, and NECA are just that – rumors. He did acknowledge that there have been difficulties with series 2, but that they were not related to the relationship between the licensor and licensees.

While the first series of turtles did very well domestically, internationally, the comic property is just not that well known. That resulted in lower overall sales than NECA would have liked. For NECA to produce a specialty line like this, they need the product to do well everywhere, or they need to figure out how to cost the series out at a much smaller production quantity. Even with the army builder angle with the Foot Ninjas, Randy doesn’t think they can meet the sales figures of the turtles.

They want series 2 to have the same level of quality as the first, so they won’t consider things like making them smaller, or reducing paint or articulation – but that does make costing out the series much more challenging. One cost savings that they will likely enact would be to eliminate the bases. They are also considering doing color variations for the series, as the Foot Ninjas were shown as displayed early in the series but got deeper colors later on. April has also been shown in a variety of different colored jumpsuits.

Randy also mentioned the possibility of exclusives for San Diego Comic Con, around the same time he thinks the series would ship to specialty retailers. ..

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – 7th Season to be Divided Into 4 Parts, Each With Bonus TMNT Action Figure: Box Art, Specs, Extras, Date

Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michaelangelo are all coming home – on DVD and as toys – this May
Posted by David Lambert
2/09/2009

Back in early November we first told you that Lionsgate is preparing the 7th Season of the classic TMNT cartoon series for DVD release, and at the time we expected it in March. In early December, barely a month later, we followed up with the word that the DVD date had been pushed back to April 21st, and that it very much could still change from there. And it HAS changed. The new release date for everything we talk about below is now May 19th.

But the other interesting info we had in that follow-up report was that “there have been no fewer than *4* different UPC codes set up” by the studio for the seventh season on DVD. We now have learned what these various UPC codes are all about, and as we suspected, it has everything in the world to do with the 4 different Turtle characters. Here are the 4 different releases which Lionsgate is planning to put out in honor of the show’s 25th Anniversary “Shellabration”:

* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Season 7, Part 1: The Leonardo Slice
o It’s party time, dudes! It’s been 25 awesome years (whoa!) since four turtles fell into the sewers and were transformed into radical human- like creatures. Join the shell-ebration as the superhero turtles save the Eiffel Tower, stop a glacier meltdown, ride a wild tidal wave and much, much more in six outrageously exciting adventures!
o Running Time: 132 minutes for 6 episodes
o EXTRA: A Shellabration with Points of Articulation: A Look Back at the Most Turtletastic Toys
* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Season 7, Part 2: The Michaelangelo Slice
o It’s radical! Get ready for more totally tubular Turtle excitement! Whether they’re battling monster sheep, sleuthing with Sherlock Holmes, or putting the freeze on a deadly heat ray, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles take adventure to the max in these seven shredding episodes. Running Time: 154 minutes for 7 episodes
o EXTRA: A Shellabration of the Turtles Creation: New Interviews with TMNT Creators
* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Season 7, Part 3: The Donatello Slice
o Cowabunga! Can the Turtles stop a dangerous threat from Dimension X? Will Shredder and Krang activate the dreaded Technodrome? Has Donatello lost his senses – for good? Grab some pizza and find out all the answers in these action-filled adventures starring everyone’s favorite kung-fu fighting turtles! Running Time: 154 minutes for 7 episodes
o EXTRA: A Shellabration of the TV Sensation: New Interviews with the Hit Show’s Creative Team
* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Season 7, Part 4: The Raphael Slice
o Bodacious! Hang on for an awesome adventure ride as the Turtles face some of their gnarliest challenges yet – a vengeful fly who wants to change all humans into insects; a Mutant Hunter who’s targeted the Turtles; an army of explosive robots and more – in this bodacious collection every Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan will love. Running Time: 154 minutes for 7 episodes
o EXTRA: A Shellabration of a Fan-Nomenon Sensation: Devoted and Die-Hard TMNT Fans Speak!

Wow, it sounds like a lot to take in, eh? Lionsgate will tell retailers that “to celebrate the 25th anniversary, all 27 episodes from Season 7 will be available for the first-time ever on DVD, with a Classic 1980′s Turtle Action Figure included with each set! There will be 4 separate DVDs, which each offer a different slice of Season 7 episodes, and feature a specific turtle on the cover. When you collect all 4 DVDs they fit together to create one scene on the shelf!”

What will those packages look like? Well, Lionsgate – who hasn’t publicly announced ANY of the info above (so take it with a grain of salt, as it’s still subject to change) – has not provided box art for these releases yet. However, this past weekend saw the New York Comic Con take place in the Big Apple, and we’ve had many readers (thanks to each of you!) write in to say that they saw preview packages for each of these over there at the Con. It wasn’t Lionsgate showing them off, though. It was the folks at Playmates, who make the TMNT action figures which you see in the toy sections at various stores. They’ll be the ones providing the pack-in figures mentioned above, and so they brought the packaging to their event.

One website that covered that demonstration was ToyArk.com, and they have lots of pictures posted for Playmates’ latest round of action figures, and their packages (including some toys with bonus pack-in DVDs)…be sure to head over and check it out! Our thanks specifically to our longtime friend Dan Hernandez for being the first to tip us off about that gallery. It has some great shots of the Season 7 packages, and we hope ToyArk doesn’t mind that we bring you some modified shots of that box art. Please head over there, using the link just above, to see the original photos!

Pricing for each title is not available yet (but we expect it to be low, considering that each release is likely to be a single disc). We do know that they will all be in full screen video, with English 2.0 audio, and with the running times and bonus material mentioned above for each title. Will there be an “all-in-one” package with everything available together? There’s been no word on that so far, either from our industry sources or out at the NY Comic Con. Stay tuned for updates to our story, though, about this amazing 4-part 25th Anniversary DVD event! “
