“Just got in a few hours ago but have some good news to share finally!
I went out for bi-weekly comic book run (as the only shop that will order TMNT comics is an hour away), and they had the new January issue of ToyFare Magazine in which low and behold had images of the Back To The Sewer Cyber Figures (ooo sounds dirty!).
Photobucket
I’ll be honest I’m not impressed at all, Cyber Shredder and Cyber Foot soldier may end up looking cool if they ever see the light of day but honestly Playmates Enough with the damn movie figures already.
I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it again the figures for this new season should look like that of the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon toys, instead of what these are looking like some G.I.Joe Sigma 6 rejects.
Anyway I’m slightly excited, I mean it’s not music turtles, or retail nightmare jobs TMNT figures thank goodness.
These figures will be out around January it says, so sadly keep an eye out for these figures after the holidays or hell maybe Toys R Us will get them in early, the Christmas Toy rush isn’t what it used to be.”

TMNT toy top 10 & ‘ COTTONMOUTH ‘

FIGURE FLASHBACK: Playmates’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

From ** Figures.com’s Pixel Dan :: Top 10 turtle toys… “In the early ’90s, there was one powerful force that dominated the entertainment world: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! That’s right, those lean, green, pizza-eating teens were all the rage with the kids of this era. I don’t have to tell you how cool this toy line was. You most likely already know that. I could sit here all day long and just show you all the fantastic things that came out of this line! But instead, I’m just going to go ahead and tell you all about my personal top 10 favorite TMNT figures. I’m sure everyone has their own opinions, and could make their own versions of this list. But to me, the ten figures listed below are the best of the best when it comes to Playmates’ TMNT toy line from the ’80s and ’90s! ..” .. ..

– Comic Legend, Steve Bissette’s (Swamp Thing , Tyrant , Taboo , also TMNT related projects are included on this docket ) classic Horror tale ‘ Cottonmouth ‘ has been adapted to the “SLIVER” screen in a new short film by Chris Garetano !!

McCain's possee tryin' to keep you from going to the polls n' voting on Tuesday !!

Bissette :: ” Cottonmouth the movie was prominent among the ’secret projects’ simmering on stoves kept tucked well out of sight for the past few years. It debuts online this Halloween; spread the word! Filmmaker Christopher Garetano’s labor-of-love short film adaptation of my 22-year-old horror comic tale “Cottonmouth”, which I’ve always jokingly referred to as “my period piece” (I say, I say, that’s a pun, bwah!), is the first film adaptation of one of my own stories. This makes it nearer and dearer to my heart than those theatrical features derived from my various activities in comics (as character designer, editor, publisher, co-plotter, and penciller): Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze (which incorporated my snapping-turtle villain toy designs into Tokka), Return of the Swamp Thing, From Hell (not my baby, mind you, but the first Taboo adaptation from a graphic novel I nurtured as editor/publisher and that might never have existed without Taboo), Constantine and Ben Coello’s short film adaptation of Wendy-Snow Lang’s Taboo Especial story “Want”, which is a gem. “Cottonmouth” was first published in Gore Shriek #1 (1986), which is where Chris Garetano first read the story at an tender and impressionable age. I slightly revised and expanded the story for Taboo #1 (1988), and it’s that version I consider the definitive one. Early on in our negotiations back and forth, two or three years ago, I sent Chris a copy of the Taboo version, but it’s the original Gore Shriek draft — sans the introductory page and coda page — Chris preferred and prefers, and that’s fine with me. It’s his movie, not mine, so I let Chris run with it. Everything I’ve seen thus far amply demonstrates Chris’s affection for my work and determination to bring the story to the screen with absolute fidelity to the original — a tough job, as he’s discovered. Comics and cinema are quite unlike one another, and storytelling devices that sing in one medium can easily fall flat in the other. ..

( Warning ::  NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH OR FAINT OF HEART ..this is a  Hard-core Horror freek-fest , Folks in the Bissette tradition !!  Not Kid’s Stuff   !! ~ t )

    More on CRT/Tanaka’s ‘Shell-ebration’ involvement

OK. I know that most of you have already seen this release on the official site, but I am finally able to regain access to my e-mail address, and there was the release just sitting in my inbox waiting to be posted.

Our Silly TMNT 25th Anniversary Pitch Video

To pay tribute both to the original fans, who are now young adults, and the 25-year history of TMNT, the CRT/tanaka Interactive team will work hand-in-hand with Mirage, 4Kids Entertainment and Peppercom Strategic Communications to build out the existing TMNT25 teaser site and develop a full blown micro-site.  The site will include a number of interactive functions from a photo gallery to downloadable wallpapers and a personality test that determines which Turtle character users most identify with.  The site will also spotlight 25th anniversary-oriented products and related links to help fans track down these awesome items.

“Our decision to bring CRT/tanaka’ on board for the Shell-ebration was motivated by their expertise and clear knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Turtles,” said Gary Richardson, CEO, Mirage Studios.  “CRT/tanaka made a powerful impression with their comic-book inspired proposal and Turtles-inspired video. They brought a great vision, a strong team and a love for all things Turtles to the table.”

Additionally, Kicking Cow Promotions Inc., a full-service event and promotional marketing company will work with Peppercom to manage all elements of the Turtles’ Party Wagon nationwide mobile tour.  Kicking Cow’s role will include re-creating the real-life Party Wagon, implementing innovative marketing strategies at each tour stop and managing ongoing fan communications.

“Taking the Turtles on the road in 2009 is a key element of our campaign and something our fans have been clamoring for,” added Richardson.  “To execute the mobile tour in true Turtles fashion, we knew we needed a partner that would bring energy, creativity, and a spirit that embodied TMNT, and we found that partner in a Cow.  From a buzz building, fan engagement perspective, Kicking Cow has a proven track record of successful tour execution.   We look forward to their next big ‘road show,” this one starring the Turtles.”

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made their world premiere in May 1984 in a comic book created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman published and distributed by their company, Mirage Studios.  A hugely successful TV series quickly followed, along with three successful theatrical films.  In 2003, the Turtles were re-introduced to a new generation through a fresh animated television series, a CGI-animated theatrical movie and new merchandising program. The 25th year of TMNT will provide fans with radical, new multi-experiential opportunities to experience and celebrate this iconic brand.
